Shopify Sidekick for B2B apps and quotes

Sidekick is the AI-enabled assistant inside the Shopify admin. A merchant chats with it from any admin page to get guidance, create content and complete tasks, and Sidekick presents changes for review before applying them (Shopify Help Center).

Sidekick can also work with third-party apps to answer questions and complete tasks. What it can do inside an app is decided by the app, through an app extension.

Shopify's developer documentation describes two kinds of extension, and every app developer has been able to build them since June 17, 2026 (Shopify changelog). These are the facts that matter for B2B, read on October 22, 2026.

• Data extensions let Sidekick search and read an app's data. The tools send back JSON and are meant to answer in about a second. Shopify's guidance is to keep data extensions to reading and put changes in action extensions, where the merchant confirms them. (app data)
• Action extensions let Sidekick propose a change. Sidekick takes the merchant to the right page in the app, with relevant context filled in, and the merchant confirms before anything changes. (app actions, changelog)
• Shopify's list of action types includes a quote type, described as 'Quotes for B2B quote and negotiation apps', with create and edit actions. (app actions)
• Limits: an app can register up to 5 intents and 20 tools, Sidekick works with up to 20 apps for each user on a store, and an app must write a short summary of what its extensions do so Sidekick can route a question to the right app. (Sidekick app extensions)
• Shopify's content rules for these extensions bar using Sidekick to sell and bar bypassing the merchant's confirmation when Sidekick acts on their behalf. (Sidekick app extensions)

Several wholesale apps now have a Sidekick extension, and what they allow differs. This table is what each app's own pages say, read on October 22, 2026. It is not a test of how each one behaves, and the rows are not ranked.

Copiara is our app. It is in early access, it is not on the Shopify App Store yet, and nobody can install it today. This is how its Sidekick tools work, as described in Copiara Help.

• Ask with @copiara. Copiara is not in Sidekick's Apps picker, so type @copiara in the Sidekick box and pick Copiara. Sidekick asks you to allow access to Copiara data when you start using it.
• Read. Sidekick reads Copiara quotes and counter offers, and can look up orders, approvals, buyer companies and contract price lists. Lookups read and change nothing.
• Stage. With a quote open, Sidekick fills in counter prices for the lines you name, matched by line or SKU, and a note to the buyer. Your staff can see the total and the margin before anything is sent.
• Review and send. Your staff read the figures on the quote page and press Send counter themselves. A counter that would take the quote below the margin floor is refused, because the floor is checked on the server.
• Never on its own. Sidekick does not send, accept or place anything by itself. Staff press the button in Copiara.
• Example, illustrative: type '@copiara counter the 6205-2RS line on quote Q-0020 at $2.90 a unit and add a note about the volume'. The quote opens with $2.90 filled in on that line, your team checks the total and margin, and then sends the counter.

Copiara is in early access. It is not on the Shopify App Store, nobody can install it today, and it has no customers. Sidekick is one way to work a quote in it. The quoting desk is where the work lands: a buyer's request, every negotiation round and the accepted quote on one record, with a margin floor the server checks, and the accepted quote placed in Shopify as an order with the agreed prices locked.

Another app is the better choice in some cases.
